15 Years of Anyone's Daughter...
Its been great to see a whole lot of new followers join us lately so I thought now is probably a good time to say welcome and thanks for joining us and to tell you a bit about myself.
I am Erika, the owner / creative director of Anyone's Daughter - Designer fashion with a feminine mood and a street smart edge - proudly designed and made in NZ.
I am the one who posts to this page and answers all your questions and comments and reads all your feedback. I love hearing from you, the good and bad stuff so we can learn from you and work towards getting it right. But hearing the good stuff really makes my day!
This year Anyone's Daughter celebrates 15 years! A pretty big achievement in this industry. It's been one hell of a ride and I still get a huge buzz every time I make a sale or see someone wearing my stuff and rocking it in their own way!
I started this business in a moment of postnatal madness after my daughter was born. I had a varied fashion industry background but my lifestyle changed with having children. I needed a stylish but practical wardrobe, easy care and comfortable to wear but not boring and I believed there was a gap between high end boutique fashion and street wear chain stores. 15 years on (and one name change later) Anyone's Daughter is still here, stronger than ever, running largely on intuition - creatively and financially.
As for me personally, I live in the coastal town of Tauranga, New Zealand. I am married with 2 teenagers, Tyler is almost 18 and Ella has just turned 15 and I have 2 cats, Pixie and Yoyo.
When I’m not working I’m coaching and managing my kids sports teams, fundraising for tournaments etc or volunteering as a reader / writer for those kids who need a bit of extra assistance.
Or you'll find me at home cooking or baking something new and enjoying a glass of wine with friends or I'll be fumbling my way through a class at the gym, or out skating or walking my neighbourhood tracks or along the beach, attempting to burn off all that food and wine!
I also use my down time (not much of that lately though) to write these blogs about my business journey and what I’ve learned along the way.
But even when I'm not working, I'm still working. I'm always observing, writing notes, taking photos, meeting new people, reading and researching, trying out new ideas, working on collaborative projects, updating my social media accounts and putting together another collection, hunting for cool fabrics and sketching new ideas. I'm working on myself and my business, because I love it!
So thanks for joining me, for following along, offering words of encouragement and of course buying our stuff! I know without you none of this is possible.
Thanks for a fab 15 years!
