As I sit here, unpacking and rearranging my new home and design studio, getting ready to deliver more of my Autumn / Winter collection, negotiating supply and production costs and delays, brainstorming my next range, and planning around school holiday chaos, I can't help but feel like… life is meant to be good.
I don't know about you, but I grew up with this idea that the only path to success was through sacrifice, struggle, and hard work I hated. Any time I expressed my desire to step outside the box, or challenge the status quo, I was met with a lot of well-meaning people who basically told me that my dreams were silly and unrealistic.
I was told I couldn't make a living as a designer. I was told to get a part-time job to "give me some pocket money".
I was told that most businesses barely make it through their first year. Anyone’s Daughter is 16 this year!
I was told my designs weren’t commercially viable, then I sold my first collection into 18 stores around NZ.
I was told that my writing was good, but not great and I wasn't famous enough to get a book deal. So I self published Rules + Rebels, sold out of my first print run, sold out the second print run and then got picked up by a publisher and sold some more.
I was told so many “things”.
Eventually, I stopped believing those lies. I stopped waiting to be chosen. I stopped waiting for doors to open and I built my own damn house!
Magic happens when you learn to trust yourself.
When you stop putting your self-worth in the hands of the others.
When you surround yourself with people who are doing it. When you learn from the best in the game.
I am beyond excited with everything I have poured into Anyone’s Daughter. This little business has changed lives. Because it’s not just about making cool clothing, it’s about creating confidence. It will change everything for you.
It will change what you believe is possible.
Welcome to the place where dreams are reignited, success is inevitable, you can release the limitations, and make it f*ing happen.
Welcome to Anyone’s Daughter…
I’ve been waiting for you.
P.S. I’ve stolen my daughters converse boots. Isn't this colour a great match with the new Loaded Top – Mauve Floral. Also wearing my new favourite, the Dreamweaver Coat.
